Video Instructions These instruction will give you guidance on the angles and methods to be used for the series of shots to be analyzed by Bill and the Natural Bowling team. The tape format for the recording can be VHS, VHC-C, 8mm or mini DV. If you only have access to some other form of video recording format, please email admin@natrual-bowling.com before sending it to verify that it can be viewed when it is received. Scene 1 - Write your full name, city, state and date the video is taken on a piece of typing paper and film it for 5 to 10 seconds. It should look something like Example 1 . Scene 2 - Have someone film you standing on the approach in front of the foul line, full body in the picture for 5 to 10 seconds. Now turn 90 degrees to the camera so that your bowling arm is facing the camera and your bowling hand is down by your side. While the video is being made, slowly move your arm in a semi-circle by rotating the arm in front of your body and then above your head as demonstrated in Example 2. Scene 3 - Take 4 shots (strike line) with the camera person standing 3 to 4 lanes away from you as you bowl. The camera person should be to the side of your bowling arm and 3 to 4 feet behind the foul line. A right-handed bowler should be bowling on an even number lane. A left-handed bowler should be bowling on an odd number lane. Taking the picture in this manner will help prevent any ball-return equipment from interfering with the picture. For these 4 shots, the camera person should pan the shot keeping the bowler in focus with the waist of the bowler in the center of the view finder. Make sure the camera is zoomed out enough and the camera person far enough away from the bowler so that the entire body of the bowler is visible throughout the shot as shown in Example 3. Scene 4 - Take 4 shots similar to those in Scene 3, but now the camera should be placed in a fixed position and far enough away from the bowler and/or zoomed far enough out so that the entire shot can be filmed without having to pan the camera as shown in Example 4. Scene 5 - Take 4 shots from behind the bowler. The bowler should line up as though making a shot straight down the 10 board (30 board for left-handed bowlers). The ball should be near the 10 board as it crosses the foul line and as it crosses near to the second arrow. The camera should be placed behind the approach, in line with the 10 board, far enough back so that the entire body of the bowler can be viewed throughout the shot as shown in Example 5. Scene 6 - Take 4 shots just like those in Scene 5, but now zoom the camera in so that the initial view of the bowler is from knees down and the footwork of the bowler can be viewed throughout the shot as shown in Example 6. |
